"‘Mission’ arises, then, from the biblical doctrine of the church in the world. If we are not ‘the church,’ the holy and distinct people of God, we have nothing to say because we are compromised. If, on the other hand, we are not ‘in the world,’ deeply involved in its life and suffering, we have no one to serve because we are insulated. Our calling is to be ‘holy’ and ‘worldly’ at the same time. Without this balanced biblical ecclesiology we will never recover or fulfill our mission"
The Living Church by John Stott
this passage totally describes the conflict I feel as a Christian… I don’t want to be so spiritual that I’m no earthly good or too involved in the world where I become numb to the righteousness of God… I guess another life long task we must always be figuring out is the BALANCE of the two. Obvious thing is… the root of what we do must glorify God and not ourselves, regardless of where we are on this scale.
Got this except from Living Life devos :) if you have it- isn’t it good!?
